The Art of Letting Go
Art of letting go.....hmmm...is it really an art? Or have we simply put it up on a pedestal, so that it seems like a task that's almost impossible to undertake?
May I just use this overused, cheesy line, that goes like, life is full of ups and downs. There, I used it. I said it. Well, we all know, that during a lifetime, there are certain hardships that one undergoes, and more than often, we face loss. Loss of places, memories, people, and in such cases, the art of letting go comes into perspective. It is rather difficult to move on, to move on from people with whom you have created memories that you once cherished, but now, those memories burn like hot lava inside your brain. Worse than that is the loss of a loved one to death. Death is a bitter, unavoidable truth of life, but what does one do when there are so many memories, so many thoughts and stories latched on to a person, whom you loved so dearly and have lost to death? There is so much guilt, anger, betrayal and utter sadness that is left with us to keep us company.
When we reach the stage of wanting to let go, and we are finally ready to bury everything, is when we have accepted things for how they have turned out, no matter how painful or unfair. Letting go does not mean that you will completely forget everything, it just means that you are ready to make peace with those things, those memories, and whenever you will think about them in the future, it won't bother you, because you would have moved on by then.
