Self Help Books

Image
Do you read self help books?   Do you believe that they help you change your perspective about life?  Do you try to adopt the methods, that have been discussed by the author? In 2021, I started my journey of reading self help books. Being an avid fiction reader, initially I found it difficult to navigate through non-fiction, wherein authors were honest and descriptive about their lived experiences.  (Kudos to them for sharing such enlightening life stories.) Every line, every paragraph  pushed me to think beyond my capabilities. I went through several waves of introspection and I gained a lot of insights about my own personal experiences. Over the past couple of years, I have read several self help books. They have broadened my perspective, and have furthermore, nudged me to grow and explore my potential.  What's my favourite self help book? It's hard to choose, but I think one of the easiest reads for me was " Good Vibes, Good Life ", by Vex King. K...

The Art of Letting Go

Image
Art of letting go.....hmmm...is it really an art? Or have we simply put it up on a pedestal, so that it seems like a task that's almost impossible to undertake? May I just use this overused, cheesy line, that goes like, life is full of ups and downs. There, I used it. I said it. Well, we all know, that during a lifetime, there are certain hardships that one undergoes, and more than often, we face loss. Loss of places, memories, people, and in such cases, the art of letting go comes into perspective. It is rather difficult to move on, to move on from people with whom you have created memories that you once cherished, but now, those memories burn like hot lava inside your brain. Worse than that is the loss of a loved one to death. Death is a bitter, unavoidable truth of life, but what does one do when there are so many memories, so many thoughts and stories latched on to a person, whom you loved so dearly and have lost to death? There is so much guilt, anger, betrayal and...

To all the college students...

To all the college students, I know it's tough. I know it's annoying too. The continous classes, loads of assignments, the tests, presentations and in addition to that, the society work. It gets too much after a while and there is this continous feeling that, 'I am not doing enough'. Well, I would like to tell you that you are doing MORE than enough and I am so proud of you. Don't underestimate or demoralise yourself. This semester has been very difficult in terms of academics and I get that, but when it finally does get over, imagine how happy you will be, how proud, that YOU DID IT! Don't stress over something which is temporary. Take a breather and give yourself a nice break. Watch some Netflix and eat some yummy, junk food. Don't worry, this shall pass too. It has to and you are doing great. Just breathe for a while and relax.  And, one last thing, if there is anyone around you who makes fun of the fact that you are getting stressed because of the work l...

Angels in Paradise

In December 2019, I went to Andamans for the first time. Just recalling it makes me so happy, especially during this lockdown period.  It was a delightful, beautiful vacation. The beaches in Havelock and Neil Island were absolutely striking, whereas, the adventure revolving the Jarawas was quite thrilling, but most of all, the people of Andamans caught my attention.  As I was changing locations and moving from one island to another every other day, I naturally met a lot of people from the tourism sector. These people were from different parts of India and were away from their families to earn a living. Few hotel workers used to sleep on the sofas in the lobby after the guests had checked in for the night and on the other hand, the taxi drivers made their cars home for a good night's slumber.  After facing these hardships and probably a lot more, these workers still had a huge smile on their face. They always greeted their guests with th...

STRESSING OUT..

Image
Stress ? Stress. Yes, for my very first blog I chose this topic as it needs immediate attention. A lot of people feel that "stress" is a taboo but I feel that, this is something that all of us can connect and relate  with. I mean..let's face it even if you are a happy person who likes to keep things light hearted  , atleast once ( how once?, how do you do this?, teach me please) in your life you have faced this..you have been through stress. So what is the definition of stress? It's a state of mental and emotional strain . When we are stressed we do certain things which we are not supposed to do as constant stress leads to negative emotions and takes a toll on the person. Constant stress can lead to anxiety . When you are stressed, you destroy your mental peace which leads to no good. (Chill dude, don't freak yourself out!) To be honest right now if I go and tell my mom that I am writing a blog on "stress" she's gonna laugh at me and say, ...
